Industrial & Manufacturing
Our specialists have extensive knowledge and experience in the Industrial & Manufacturing sector and have acted as Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Tax Allowance Advisers and CDM Coordinators (now Principal Design Services under the new CMD Regulations 2015) on a significant number of Industrial and Process Engineering developments.
Thomson Bethune has helped deliver influential construction projects such as:
- One of Europe’s largest bottling halls situated in Fife;
- The modernisation of the vast, industrial printing and mailroom equipment at The Scotsman newspaper, without losing a single cover;
- Supporting the construction of clean room facilities for microchip manufacturers and scientific research and development;
- Alterations to a large scale paper mill project incorporating plant and specialist process housing, substations, tank housings, civil engineering works in connection with piped electrical services and associated external works over a 10-year period to meet the demands of production changes.
We have also been providing quantity surveying services to the Drinks Industry for more than forty years and over the past ten years have been very heavily involved in the rapid global expansion that has taken place in the Whisky Industry. We have worked closely with clients, assisting them with the development of a number of new distilleries as well as distillery expansions, new bottling halls, cooperages, biomass plants, anaerobic digestion plants, tank farms, office space and over half a million square metres of maturation warehouses.
Our work has required us to fully interface with Processing Engineers regarding the installation of specialist plant and equipment. Recent/ongoing projects with a high level of processing interface have been undertaken for WM Grant, Chivas Brothers, Glenmorangie, Bruichladdich, Belhaven as well as other well-known, international brands.
Our work has required us to closely liaise with the Process Equipment manufacturers and installers of mash tuns, stills, washbacks, chimneys, boilers plants and bottling lines to ensure that the overall project is delivered on time and with no interruption to the existing production. The Company’s ability to interface with plant production and process engineering, as well as key knowledge on M&E and infrastructure management is supported by many years of experience and positions Thomson Bethune as a market leader in this field.
